Excerpt from THE PERFECT WORLD:
When the seals of the airlock slid open, two people stepped into the vehicle. A woman grabbed Davyan's hair and pulled his head back. She held a knife against his throat. "Do not move or cry out if you want to live."
Davyan's first thought was, My god, I don't want to die like this. He forced himself to stand still in her grasp.
"Put your hands behind your back," the woman commanded.
When Davyan complied, the man applied magnetic restraints that held his wrists so tightly that he could barely move his fingers. A gag was forced into his mouth and a hood placed over his head, blinding him.
The man produced a device which he attached to the control panel of Davyan's vehicle. A message appeared on the screen. Change of ownership accepted. The man programmed the vehicle to go to the desired destination and not record the trip.
Upon their arrival, Davyan was hustled into a room and tied to a chair. When his hood and gag were removed, Davyan asked, "Who are you and what do you want?"
Without answering, the man pushed a tazer against Davyan's left leg, eliciting a scream.
The man brought his face in front of Davyan's nose. "Tell me," he yelled, "What kind of special perks did you get for turning in William Hamza and sending him to his death?"
